This typical ranch kitchen needed space and light.Non-bearing walls separating the kitchen and family room were removed.

Relocating the back door and utilizing unused space from a utility room allowed for a refrigerator, pantry, broom closet and additional cabinetry. An added bonus for storage was the serving hutch located near the adjoining dining room.The island was dual purpose. When seen from the living room it appears as furniture with seating. The other is pure function; with a range, microwave, and plenty of drawers.

No longer secluded in the kitchen, the homeowner has a functional and stunning great room to relax with family or entertaining friends.
